About Potato Candies
Us:
We met in College, lived together for a year, married our respective hubs and starting cooking together. Now we reside on opposite coasts: Allyson on the Left, Alex on the East. Frustrating? Yes.
Soloution:
Potato Candies now accommodates us both. A weekly post (usually Sundays, but we are comfortable with abstractions) that we pass back and forth between LA and Brooklyn.
Food:
Basics, necessity, local, affordable, roasty, scrumptious. We insist on food tasting good and we find the simplest path to that goodness.
Fancy Mission Statement:
I believe in beauty, the taste of an ecoregion, of traditional food products, along with their lore and preparation. The sustaining of heirloom varieties that for our enjoyment are, cooked up, made delicious, in cooperation with local food systems. With their help we nourish our body, soul, and mind, and everything that is in man, slowly and not in semblance. I believe in
taste education and small scale processing, in meat and in vegetation; who with their goodness, teach others of the risk in commercial agribusiness and factory farms.
I believe also in the teaching of gardening skills; in ethical buying, for the remission, and forgiveness of sins; educating consumers about the risks of fast food, celebrations of local cuisine within regions, and the Kingdom of Genomes and in the everlasting life.
Amen.
